1. Our Commitment
Pasaj is a book-swapping platform dedicated to connecting readers around the world through a shared love of literature. As a platform that facilitates communication and community, we bear a serious responsibility to ensure that every interaction on Pasaj is safe, respectful, and lawful.
Pasaj maintains an absolute zero-tolerance policy toward child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) content and behavior in any form. We are unconditionally committed to preventing, detecting, and responding to any instance of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or exploitative conduct that may arise on our platform. The safety and dignity of children is not a matter subject to negotiation or exception — it is a foundational principle that informs every aspect of how we design, operate, and enforce our platform.
We work proactively to stay ahead of evolving threats, continuously improve our detection and response capabilities, and cooperate without reservation with law enforcement agencies and child protection authorities worldwide.
2. Prohibited Content and Conduct
The following content and behaviors are strictly and permanently prohibited on Pasaj. Violations will result in immediate account suspension and, where applicable, referral to the relevant legal authorities.
Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to:
- Sharing, distributing, uploading, or promoting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form — including through book listings, cover images, descriptions, or private or public chat messages
- Any content that sexualizes, exploits, degrades, or endangers minors, whether explicit or implicit in nature
- Grooming behavior — any attempt to establish, cultivate, or exploit a relationship with a minor for the purpose of sexual abuse or exploitation
- Soliciting, facilitating, or arranging contact with minors for exploitative, abusive, or inappropriate purposes
- Any content that promotes, glorifies, normalizes, or trivializes the sexual abuse or exploitation of children
- Attempting to procure or distribute CSAM through any feature of the Pasaj platform, including listings, reviews, recommendations, or messaging
These prohibitions apply to all users, regardless of location, account type, or tenure on the platform.

4. Our Response Process
Pasaj takes every child safety report with the utmost seriousness. When we receive a report related to child safety, we follow a structured and rigorous response process:
- Priority triage — All child safety reports are immediately elevated above standard moderation queues and assigned for urgent review.
- Content review — Our team assesses the reported content or behavior against our Child Safety Standards and applicable legal frameworks.
- Immediate removal — Content that violates our standards is removed from the platform without delay, pending further investigation.
- Account suspension — Accounts confirmed to be involved in CSAE are permanently and irrevocably banned from Pasaj.
- Evidence preservation — Relevant data and evidence are securely preserved in accordance with applicable legal obligations.
- Mandatory reporting — Confirmed CSAM is reported to the relevant national and international child protection authorities. In the United States, this includes the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via their CyberTipline, as mandated by federal law. For users located in other jurisdictions, we report to the appropriate national authorities and, where applicable, to internationally recognized organizations such as the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) and INHOPE member hotlines. We comply with all applicable mandatory reporting obligations in every jurisdiction where our platform operates.
- Law enforcement cooperation — We cooperate fully and without reservation with law enforcement investigations at the local, national, and international level.
5. Prevention Measures
Pasaj employs a multi-layered approach to proactively prevent CSAE content and behavior from taking hold on our platform. Our prevention framework includes:
- Dedicated Reporting Category — An in-app "Child Safety Concern" category is available on every book listing and in every chat conversation, providing a direct and unambiguous reporting path.
- Priority Review Queue — All reports submitted under a child safety concern category are automatically escalated and reviewed with urgency.
- Content Moderation — Reported content is reviewed by our team against our Child Safety Standards and applicable legal definitions.
- Account Enforcement — Any account confirmed to have engaged in CSAE conduct is permanently banned, with no possibility of reinstatement.
- Evidence Handling — Confirmed CSAM is preserved and reported in accordance with legal obligations prior to removal.
- Authority Cooperation — We proactively engage with and report confirmed CSAM to child protection organizations and law enforcement authorities in relevant jurisdictions.
- Policy Enforcement — Our Terms of Service explicitly and unambiguously prohibit all CSAE content and conduct, forming the legal basis for immediate account action.
We are committed to continuously reviewing and improving these measures as technology, legal standards, and best practices evolve.
6. Legal Compliance
Pasaj is a global platform, and we recognize that our legal obligations with respect to child safety vary by jurisdiction. We are committed to full compliance with all applicable child safety laws and regulations wherever our platform is available.
Our legal compliance framework includes:
- United States: Reporting confirmed CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via their CyberTipline, as required under 18 U.S.C. § 2258A.
- European Union and United Kingdom: Compliance with relevant EU and UK child protection legislation and cooperation with national law enforcement and reporting hotlines.
- Global reporting obligations: Where mandatory reporting obligations exist under national law, we comply in full and report confirmed CSAM to the designated national authority or hotline, including INHOPE-affiliated reporting centers.
- Data protection: We handle all data related to minors and child safety investigations in strict accordance with applicable privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR and equivalent frameworks.
- App store policies: We comply with the child safety requirements set forth by Google Play, Apple App Store, and any other distribution platforms through which Pasaj is made available.
